Liver Detoxing

Liver Detoxing

The liver is the body’s natural detoxifier, as it cleanses the body of toxins and produces bile to support the digestion of fats.

Over time, however, exposure to chemicals can damage the liver. For example, drinking alcohol is a well-known to be detrimental to the liver

In most cases, a liver detox involves one or more of the following:

  • taking supplements designed to flush toxins out of the liver
  • eating a liver-friendly diet
  • avoiding certain foods
  • going on a juice fast
  • cleansing the colon and gut through the use of enemas

While liver failure is a serious health problem, there is no evidence that dangerous toxins accumulate in otherwise healthy livers without exposure to a chemical. I do not advocate the use of enemas, and whilst a juice fast can certainly help clients embark on a new way of eating and let digestion have a rest, I feel it’s important to support this with a qualified practitioner, so that you make a plan that encourages self-care. Artichoke and bitter food have long been known as liver friendly foods, although evidence supporting this is weak. Sadly, when it comes to food, there’s few clinical trials as no-one stands to profit from any such research and food sources and diet can be so variable. To clarify, it’s not that I don’t believe these foods can be of benefit, I’m merely pointing out the lack of evidence that supports it.

The 14 day Nutriclean Programme

The programme uses a specific supplement regime and a low allergenic food plan along with a comprehensive information pack, containing a food list, lifestyle tips, recipes, and menu planners, quick and easy meal ideas, easy cheats, shopping list, supplement protocol and FAQs. This comes out to you along with your supplements and a workbook to track your progress.

How does the programme run?

On days 1-6 and days 10-14, you consume 3 meals and 2 snacks (1 to include UltraClear Plus pH). Days 7-9 are liquid only days where you consume 3 servings of UltraClear Plus pH and unlimited juices/soups. In order to track your progress, you will have the opportunity to fill in a workbook at different stages. Prior to the beginning of the programme you will take a few simple measurements including weight, height, BMI and waist to hip ratio. These will be taken again at the end. A medical symptoms questionnaire (MSQ) will also be filled in at these times. A toxin exposure questionnaire should be filled in prior to the beginning of the programme. You will be invited to make notes on changes you have noticed or how you are generally feeling as the programme progresses.

Please note this programme is only available for Health Professionals or those seeing a Health Professional.

Why is this my Favourite Liver Cleanse?

The pack is comprehensive and has recipe ideas as well as foods to eat and those to avoid, that it gives clients an opportunity to try new things with proper support and guidance. Whilst weight loss isn’t part of the programme, 95% of clients embarking on the programme see a change in weight that’s significant, and as they feel so well on the programme, a good deal of the changes such as having a few days a month of homemade soups stick, thereby letting digestion have a rest, as well as encouraging the consumption of fresh natural produce. Also, when clients embark on the cleanse, there’s a mind-set change- one that encourages metabolic changes which can be measured by a blood test both pre cleanse and post cleanse.
